Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Pizza... Recommend building your own... even the small pizza is enough for two and even a to-go box. Chad was our server. We were pretty happy with our creation and the completion by the kitchen staff. True brick oven style. Crust is good. Toppings generous.

Excellent food. Pizza can't be beat in mount pleasant. Bartender was good, although a little too mechanical for my liking. He's young, just needs to relax and talk to people like they are people. Overall, I'll go back many times. Love the fresh basil on the pizza.

Either Grimaldi's was really good, or I was really hungry after a night out in Mount Pleasant drinking tequila and eating hot pockets. We are there on a Friday afternoon, probably around 2 or 3. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. It took a while for our food to be served despite the restaurant not being very busy. I will say that the bartender recommended my buddy & I split a pizza to save some money and because 1/2 a pizza would likely fill us up. I'll eat there if I end up in Mount Pleasant again.

I hate to say it, but I left here a bit disappointed. But let's start with the positives. The staff was all very friendly and service was great. Very quick and made sure our drinks were full at all times. We had a salad and a pizza to share. The Cesar salad was fine. Not bad but nothing to rave about either. But the pizza fell a bit short. It wasn't bad but I would compare it to some frozen pizzas. It didn't impress me. Kind of a soupy like sauce and minimal basic cheese. Pepperonis were just ok. And the menu selections are a bit limited... Which is fine. But if all you serve is pizza, salad, and calzones, you better make some impressive pizza, calzones, and salads. There are just too many great pizza places in the area to come here again and settle for mediocre pizza.

Average pizza to say the least. Not worth a return trip to spend $20 on a pizza and leave hungry. I'd rather spend the money on a great pizza at DeSano or D'Allesandro's. The salad was great but not with coming back just for salad.

Went for lunch today. It's a big space for a restaurant so it never seems crowded here. Pizza's the thing at Grimaldi's. The ingredients are fresh. But in my opinion the thin crust is just okay. Nothing to write home about. We also had a Mediterranean salad. Also very fresh ingredients but nothing special. The prices are robust. Unfortunately, the food is not. To its credit, however, they use cloth napkins and the service is always very attentive. Grimaldi 's also uses glass instead of plastic cups, but the iced tea was a little weak today.

My aunt was in Isle of Palms for work and we needed a place to go for a quick lunch. We pulled into the plaza and happened upon Grimaldi's by chance. It was a pretty nice day out, so we sat in the outdoor section that is covered with string lights above your head. We got a pizza and a salad to share. We got a small pizza, which was 3 slices each and that was more than enough. The pizza is a nice thin crust. We were going to get a large salad to share, but the waiter let us know that their salads were BIG and that a small would be enough for 2 to share. Glad he let us know because he was right. We got the caesar salad. The only complaint was that the only antipasto option on the menu was as a sort of appetizer not a salad (no lettuce).

Grimaldi's is my favorite pizza place in the area so far. We went to the one back in DFW, Texas all the time when my husband and I lived there. I love the brick oven crust, with the black smudges on the bottom from the coal. We always get a small pizza with pepperoni, garlic, kalamata olives, and fresh basil with a Greek salad or caprese to start. The service is sporadic - sometimes it's great and your food is perfectly timed between the apps and the entree, sometimes you only see your waiter twice during your entire meal and it takes over an hour for your entree to come out. Regardless, I love their pizza here and it's great they have carry-out for when you wanna eat it at home in your sweats while watching Netflix with a bottle of wine to yourself.

I am confused as to how a pizza with pepperoni and sausage can need salt. The sauce was soupy and not very flavorful. It's also pretty expensive. $20 for a 14" pizza with 3 topping. The server never once came to see how we were doing, except when he wanted to know if we wanted dessert. I regret not hitting up EVO on the way home.

The decor is so impressive. The ceiling lights were wine bottles, pictures and signs from New York, open seating, open oven and a simple menu made the initial impression strong. Shaundra, our server was just perfect. She was friendly, charming, loved to laugh and be silly and provided us with a great customer experience. She brought everything out in a timely manner, let us talk and enjoy our dinner and made us laugh when she spent a few minutes with us. Big Kudos. The thin crust pizza was most enjoyable and filled our hunger needs perfectly. It is a very small menu and for those that don't want too many choices it is perfect. The salads are quite large so if you get one, it could be a whole meal.
(4)Charles M.
Excellent ambience and the waiter was 5 stars. Pizza was very good 4 star and the Mediterranean salad was 4+. I've had the original in NYC and this is an above average copy. I'm a Brooklyn pizza fan and very happy to find this in Charleston. the only part that did not feel authentic was the fresh mozzarella. I would have given 4 and 1/2 but not really an option.
(4)Mathew T.
I have been multiple times and have not been let down pure amazingness. Salads are great and pizza is great white and red have not tried pesto yet
(5)Frank G.
I just wish that when they send out their notices via email for the pizza, That they would offer a coupon... Still great pizza Frank G

Waited 30 mins to even get a glass of water. Food was mediocre and overpriced. Would never go back again.

My friend and I were both near MT. P Town Centre, and decided to meet for lunch. Neither of us had been to Grimadi's or Zoës Kitchen. The restaurants are next door to each other. From the parking lot, Zoës Kitchen has an appealing look, with a nice sign and patio, plus colorful awning. So we walked in there first to see the menu. As soon as you walk in, it looks like a fast food chain restaurant like Atlanta Bread Company or Qdoba (both also in town centre). The font and pictures used on the menu even made it look like a chain. Not that I don't eat at chain restaurants, the point was that I would have never guessed from the name and look outside, that this was a chain. So we left and went next door. Walked into Grimaldi's about 12:30PM, and it was dead. Dead, like three customers dead. That was scary, but didn't turn us away. We learned really fast after being handed menus why it might not be a popular lunch spot. The double sided menu was one side wines, and the other side salads, pizza, or a calzone. If your not looking to have a liquid lunch or just a slice of pie, this is not the place for you! Regardless of the slim selection, the food was fresh and great! We shared the small spinach salad and personal pie with mushrooms and Italian sausage (6 small slices).
(3)Glennda B.
Server/ bartender was very polite but barely attentive. He did not order food correctly and I suspect took his time placing our order in a timely fashion as it took a long time anyway. Pizza was overrated with barely any extra toppings, and way too overpriced. If you don't care about quality but do care about quantity then eat their pizza!
(2)Megan B.
To start off our antipasto was very small for the price. We waited over a half hour for one large pizza. They charge per topping and every extra one was scarce. Other than the great crust no reason to go back.
(1)Francis C.
Best pizza I've ever had! And the service is top notch. Also love their salad. Good atmosphere!
(5)Mike S.
The pizza was excellent as well as the service. Was a great lunch. Will definitely come back.
(5)Jim R.
Love this place. Food is excellent. Eat here when I come for work. Now just learned there is one in Denver. Yahoo!!
(5)Sasha S.
Disappointing.... It's only pizza and salad here. THATS IT. (no pasta, sandwiches etc..) My husband didn't care for the pizza and my ceasers salad was watered down. My server knew I wasn't pleased didn't care. I give this place two stars bc I did enjoy a glass of wine, croutons and the set up was of the place was nice .
(2)Jonathan Z.
Fantastic pizza (thin crust) with freshly made dough and good quality ingredients. Service was a little awkward both times I have been but the food makes up for it. Caesar salad also is top shelf. Great place for kids too as they guys will chuck a pizza dough to them over the counter for them to play with. You will see the kids lining up to catch the dough. Overall, food was great, reasonably priced, and nice atmosphere that is good for kids.

I swear that anyone that lives in Mount Pleasant should avoid ALL chain restaurants and this was yet again proven by my visit to Grimaldi's. Poor beer selection (not one local offering despite their website stating they take beer and wine very seriously), mediocre food and terrible service. Typical for the Applebee's of pizza. The hostess was less than pleasant and sat us outside RIGHT next to the only other occupied table on the patio. Server never checked in once after the 40 minute wait for our pizza. Finally, I'm still confused by the over affection here for one's pet dog to the point that they are now allowed to eat dinner in a decently priced restaurant, if even on the patio. I'm not for or against dogs but there is a place for them and 2 tables away from my small children while having dinner is not one of them. The dog was most certainly a terrier/pit mix and my children were petrified. Leave your beast home or get it to go but don't take it to dinner. This isn't Germany. Will never return to Grimaldi's.

Best pizza I have had since moving to the Low Country three years ago. As someone who consumes way more pizza than I care to admit, being the "best" pizza place on my list is truly an accomplishment! Side note: their pizza is fairly cheap as well in comparison to any of the not as tasty delivery options! You're welcome ;)
(5)Marie A.
Tasty pizza! We tried the small pesto pizza and added Italian sausage, mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes. Also we split a small Mediterranean salad. Everything was very delicious. Fresh salad with a good vinegarette. Pizza was large enough to split plus some to take home. Service was okay. We came while they were cleaning the ovens and it felt like they were closed. So after a few glances - I finally got a drink order. Only customers there but still waited ... But then the service improved after some more people showed up. I would go back again.

Strengths: Fabulous decor with a side room for parties or groups. Plenty of seating so you are not on top of each other. Opportunities: Menu is limited. Pizza, calzones and salad. No real appetizers to speak of. Pizza is fair at best. Summary: Ok. Nothing to write home about.
(2)Kristin L.
Very disappointed with the hostesses at this location. We just left there after they couldn't accommodate my family and I. I know it was a Friday night at 6 and we didn't have a reservation. But me being pregnant with two kids with me, I expected more help to fit us in. Gina the main hostess was just plain rude. If you don't want to lose more business, I suggest getting hostesses that can handle Friday night rush and aren't so moody and rude.
(2)Tracie F.
Outstanding! Service was fast and the server, Michael was well trained and well informed! The pizza was so fresh and tasted delish! The Caesar salad was one of the best tasting ones I've ever had!! I will be back when I'm in town!! Will recommend to my friends!

This was our first visit to Grimaldis. Being a sort of "pizza snob", I was interested in checking out this "authentic New York coal fired brick oven pizza". I have to say I was a little disappointed in the flavor and it was over baked and nearly burnt in a couple places. Overall not a bad pizza but not as authentic as I would have thought...especially for the price. While I would give the pizza 3 stars, the service was very rushed. Not only did the waitress seem to push us along for the order, she came during the meal to ask if we wanted coffee or dessert, and when we declined she brought the bill and uttered the famous words, "I'm just going to leave this here but don't rush"...what a joke, of course they were rushing us! For the money they should not be trying to turn tables so quickly. All in all I may try it one more time...assuming perhaps it was just the waitress I had or an off night....if nothing improves! done with it.
(3)I G.
Ordered a mushroom pizza. Burnt cardboard with bland sauce little cheese and canned mushrooms. Overpriced tasteless weak pizza. Last time I was here about one year ago it was better. I'm from New York I've eaten alot of good pizza in my time, this was not good. There's better places in Charleston for less money. Not coming back, dominoes and papa johns better than this....Tourist trap surviving on name only...

Extremely disappointed with my recent visit here. My family and I were shopping in the Towne Center and wanted to find a place to eat where we could sit outside. Grimaldi's has a decent sized patio so we went there. Out waiter was friendly but forgetful with drink re-fills. All together we ordered two salads and a personal sized cheese pizza. After about 45 minutes of no food we became curious and started looking around. The table next to us was complaining that their appetizer consisting of meat and cheese took 45 minutes to come out and they still didn't have their pizza. When their pizza did come, they took one bite and immediately got up and walked out of the restaurant because it was so bad. As the manager came out to talk to one of them we informed him that we were also having problems. It had been an hour at this point and we still had no food even though other tables that had sat down after us started to get theirs. He went back into the kitchen to check on our food and came back with our order ticket. He said that the order was just put in 20 minutes ago, so we couldn't have been waiting for an hour. Now knowing that our waiter didn't put our order in until at least 30 minutes after we had gotten there, we became more confused but the manager insisted on arguing that there's not way we could have been waiting that long. I pointed out that the table next to ours had the same issue and there were others getting their food before us. He claimed their type of pizzas didn't take as long to bake. Whatever the reason, it was extremely unprofessional for him to come out and argue with us and we weren't getting anywhere with him so we got up and left. All he had to do was apologize for the wait, tell us the food would be out soon, and we would have stayed. But because he felt the need to "prove us wrong" they have lost a customer. I will never be back.

Go here for a good pie! I am very picky when it comes to pizza and this place was great. Great service and great quality, I would Surely eat here again. We had a spinach salad and a white pie and both were excellent!
(5)Scotty C.
I must say I was fairly disappointed in Grimaldis. This was almost a 2 star but the service was good and I liked the atmosphere. I would definitely come back and grab drinks at the bar. As for the pizza, I was expecting a lot being that it was brick oven and my friend raved about the original one in Jersey. I thought, here comes some bad ass, northern style, thin crust, crispy delicious pizza. Unfortunately it was mediocre pizza at best. It was lacking flavor and it was a bit undercooked. Maybe they could try a different olive oil and cook it a little longer. I will try again but, if it's anything similar to what I had last time... I'm done.
(3)Theresa D.
Really good pizza! I'm a big fan, it's definitely a step up from many pizza places around town. It's a slightly thinner crust than some, but it's by no means a crispy dough. I love the sausage topping on a basic pizza; the sausage is high-quality (not that sliced medallion junky kind.) The salads are very generous as well, the small can easily feed two people. And that's the whole menu, so don't expect a ton of options. A few dislikes: because it's thinner, the pizza does not travel well at all (I live about two blocks away, waited on the pie and took it straight home and its was a cold mess) I do not advise take out. Second, I'm weirdly picky about olive oil quality, especially if you're going to serve a caprese salad, and theirs is a tasteless thin liquid (basically favorless water.) Its a small thing but it bugs me. Also, it's hard to say a waitstaff can be TOO attentive, but honestly, so many different people pass by asking the same questions ("Have you been here before?" "Hows the ____?" etc etc) you can only answer the same question so often without it become bothersome. But even with the dislikes, I can only knock off a star, the pizza is so darn good! Just get better olive oil!
(4)E. B.
Yummy! This was my second time there and it was just as delicious as the first! Today it was me, my two daughters and two other little girls. The server was nice and attentive! It's also a great location for kids! They love the fact they get to play with dough :)
(5)Kelly G.
Friendly service, good pizza if you want a sit down restaurant with lots of other options.
(4)Anyel W.
My husband and I along with some friends were in town on vacation and stopped by here while shopping to grab something eat. We never heard of the restaurant and wanted something that wouldn't be too filling as we had plans for dinner already. We ordered an small beef and mushroom pizza and that was large enough for my husband and I to share. It was hot and very tasting. The waitress recommended the cheesecake for dessert and we were not disappointed.
(4)Amy Lauren S.
My husband and I went here as a part of a large party, it was pre-booked in the back room. I don't think any of us will return to Grimaldi's. First, I know with a large party, not everyone will get their food at the same time, but everyone waited an extremely long time, and when my husband and I finished eating, some others had not even gotten their food delivered yet. Everyone else was ready to leave, and they basically took their food to-go. It also took a long time for our checks to come out as well. We also thought the pizza was bland and overpriced. If you like toppings on your pizza, this place isn't for you. Cheese is included, but there isn't much cheese on the pizza. The crust is super thin (not greasy though) and hard. Each topping is between $2-5- regardless of the size of pizza. The menu doesn't have any set pizzas, it's all cheese pizza and you add your toppings. I settled for a salad because had I wanted a pizza full of veggies (usually what I get), a personal pizza would've been over $20. The salads also cost to add cheese or extra dressing. There aren't any appetizers, either- just pizzas and salads and some desserts. None of us had a dessert. Neither of us cared for the pizza. I think some in our party liked it, but pizza is pretty subjective. Before we ordered, the waitress gave us a big talk about how good the pizza was and how it was made, to pump us up for it I guess. Honestly, I've had better frozen pizza or grocery store pizza. The pizza, prices, and lousy service has definitely made Grimaldi's lose us as future customers.
(1)Brian P.
Good pizza overall, great service. Couple drawbacks, had a crunchy piece of charcoal actually ON my pizza, not too big a deal, but unpleasant. Large pepperoni and sausage pizza had quite a bit of grease under, but was still pretty awesome in terms of flavor, and definitely big enough to feed three. A big drawback for me was the price, 75$ for pizza for a family of 4 ( I large two topper and 1 small 2 topper, 4 sodas 65$ +10.00 tip). I expect that at some vacation dinners, maybe with fresh seafood involved, but seems a bit much for pizza, even though they are pretty rockin pies.
(3)Grant S.
I wouldn't give this pizza to a starving person. Cool building and atmosphere, and OK service, but the food is not worth half what they charge. A large pizza with fresh roma tomatoes, garlic and mushrooms was sopping wet even after plenty of time in the coal-fired oven that the menu and wait staff extoll to no end. The crust wasn't just moist. It was wet. As in, none of the slices could defy gravity's pull once lifted off the platter. As in, no crisp -- and no crunch -- whatsoever. Wet like it had all been hosed down. Wet enough for the pizza's char to be creating brown pools underneath it. The house salad was satisfying. The beer was good. But good God, don't make the same mistake we did and expect this place to live up to what the menu and staff say about the pizza.
(1)Demetria M.
I can't even begin to explain my excitement to find a Grimaldi's in the low country. I mean this is the legendary pizza spot in Brooklyn with crazy long lines to get in......certainly the pizza would not be the same? I was cautiously optimistic after I quickly ordered a pizza to go, but after waiting nearly an hour for it, my optimism level dropped. Apparently they have to relight the oven after a certain point during the day but no one volunteered that info until I asked after about 30 minutes. Needless to say the pizza is nothing like the original, which I didn't expect it to be an exact match......it's just ok, the crust had a really strange crisp to it but it is a different type of pizza for the area so I guess it does well.
(3)Anthony T.
Some of the best pizza around. Coke fired ovens is a luxury we can't get up north. Thank goodness for lax regulations down south! Consider yourself lucky to have such great pizza!
(5)Jon M.
I agree with the comments about the menu being limited, but it is called Grimaldi's PIZZERIA. I walked in late one evening during the week after running errands and having no idea what or where I wanted to go for dinner. Grimaldi's was right there, so I went for it. The staff was friendly, and my pizza was ready to go quickly. The pizza was good, and I love that they use fresh mozzarella. I can't say it was the best pizza I've ever had, but it was excellent.
(5)Casual O.
I've eaten four of their pizzas, all for carryout. The first was done perfectlly and the others that followed were burnt. I keep coming back hoping for that initial positive impression to repeat but the results are disappointing. Do they sabotage the carryout orders to force dine in cutomers so they can attract and retain servers? Twenty dollars is a lot of money for a burnt bottom. They certainly have the capacity for a quality product but the results have been a letdown.
(3)Neeve O.
food is good but they are way way way too slow. I don't think waiting an hour for a salad is acceptable.
(1)J G.
Great pizza, great crust. Friendly service for such a numerous, young staff. They use the good cheese.
(5)David N.
Great pizza, the service was quick. Our waiter,Ben,did great. Will absolutely be back!
(5)Fae W.
Tasty pizza, nice restaurant, friendly staff. If you have kids ask them to do the dough show! Perfect location. They also have a private room for special events.
(4)M G.
The place had a huge crowd on a Monday night so I ordered it to-go. The restaurant is located in the Towne Centre closer to the Belk and beside Zoes. The pizza was 18 dollars for a large and toppings get expensive at 4-5 bucks a go. I must say the pizza had VERY little sauce. And I love sauce, so that was a downer for me. The crust is very dry, with some burned spots-- assuming the coal brick oven.I chose this place because of its claim of NY style pizza, but it did not remind me of any pizza I've had in NYC due to the sauce deficiency.
(3)Aleks K.
After a second visit I am taking this down to a one star. They have an oven that turns the bottoms of the pizzas into ash covered messes. I ate two slices of our pie, my mom picked on one and I brought the rest home only to throw it out the next day. My boyfriend wouldn't even eat it saying he was not going to be sick. For a pizza w pesto tomato mozz and chicken plus a bottle of seltzer we paid in the ~30$ range. I won't be eating here again. It's a shame that the oven isn't getting cleaned enough so that you are not eating ash and getting it on yourself.
(1)Mark R.
Excellent Pizza. Taste good. Outside bar. Not noisy. Only reason for 4 star is not a full bar.
(4)Rosemary O.
If it's crowded, get comfy because service will be slowwwwwwww. Pizza is good but salads are barely functional.
(2)Rick C.
Pizza taste is pretty subjective. I like Grimaldi's thin crust and homemade sauce and fresh mozzarella. I've eaten at this restaurant several times since it opened and over time the service has improved. Went there tonight and the place was crowded. We got a table fairly quickly. Our server was very good, kept the drinks full and checked in regularly. Our pizza took forever coming out. The service manager came out and told us that when it came out of the oven it was not up to their standards, so they made another pie for us. He was very apologetic and offered us a free dessert, which we accepted. Our pizza was very good, both our server and the service manager continued to check in with our table to make sure we were satisfied. Excellent customer service. Dessert cheesecake was delicious and we left satisfied.
(4)Andrew S.
The building isn't bad, the staff is great: very friendly and helpful. There was even a problem with our order that they fixed immediately, and probably did more than we had any reason to expect. In fact the staff was so great, it almost pains me to write this review. The problem is that the pizza just isn't that good. It seems like Charleston has always had a problem with NY pizzerias coming in and trying to educate us poor southern folk on "real pizza." Whether it's the desecration of a King Street icon like Sharky's or now Grimaldi's. Of course that only works if your product is any good. If you really like thin crust, burnt to a crisp, pizza with no sauce or cheese then this is the place for you. Personally I'd rather put tomato sauce and a small chunk of cheese on a cracker. Being fair, let's say thin crust pizza is your slice of life, ok fine... but the pizza still isn't that good. Toppings are ridiculously expensive, for some reason it's possible to get black olives without pits, but not green olives? The pepperoni is the most bland and tasteless I've ever had on any pizza in my life. Instead of sauce on the pizza there's just tomato chunks. The cheese is about as tasteless as the pepperoni, the veggies all seemed to be suffering from the same problem, nothing seemed fresh and nothing had any taste. I've been to Italy, I've been to New York, this is far from the best pizza either has to offer. If it was half the price it might be worth it, but all in all, skip it and get something that tastes good.
(2)Tony K.
One of my family's favorite pizza places. The prices look a little high at first but the portions are large and filling so it ends up being a good value. Flavor is great. Fresh mozzarella and the brick oven are key. I have always had good service but tonight was outstanding. My daughter wanted to take some friends there on her birthday and for the first time ever, we had an overcooked pizza. Every business is going to have an occasional miss, how they handle it is key though. The waitress and manager were very proactive and went above and beyond to make things right. We all left with smiles.
(5)LIsa H.
Good pizza is hard to find in Charleston, SC but this place may just have it right. If you can get over the fact that it is very kid friendly. My husband and I like to go here on Friday or Saturday nights but we have to prepare ourselves for the overcrowded entryway (even though there are tons of empty tables at any given time) and millions of kids running around. Oh well, what do you expect for pizza place in the middle of Town Center Shopping center? However, I will say we have always received excellent service once seated. And we use the call ahead seating to help ease the long wait at the door. Anyways, the small salads are great for splitting, always fresh ingredients. And the pizza really is to die for, I could possibly eat it every day. My husband and I may try going on a Tuesday to avoid the crowds and the kids and enjoy the 1/2 price bottles of wine.
(4)Katyna B.
Loved the crust and atmosphere. We didn't have to wait long either. Wish there was one back home .
(5)Josh A.
My family and I were so excited to see a NY pizzeria locate in our town; we're from New England and have missed the great pizza we used to get up there. However, we were really disappointed in our experience and in the food we received from our local Grimaldi's: 1. The first time I went in to get a take out menu, the dining area smelled of bleach; a put off. The second time I went in (a week later) to pick up our first pizza, the bar area smelled of bleach. 2. The servers were not friendly; I did not feel welcome either time I went in. 3. The pizza was just 'OK'. The crust was GREAT (hooray) but the toppings were not good. Cheese and sauce were mediocre as well. I am so sad about this experience as we were hoping to have a bit of home in South Carolina.

Great atmosphere, service quick. Had a garlic pizza with ricotta and tomatos, and the toppings were $2 a piece. Yikes, that's a lot! Pizza itself was of good quality, but the pricing made this pizza place feel overrated. Not bad! Also, if your at Towne Centre at 7 on Sunday, this place is still open so you don't have to travel a long way for dinner!

This place had great pizza. Ordered a large pepperoni and meatball and it was incredibly good. This is the first time I've had coal-fired pizza, but am a big fan of wood-fired. Service at the bar on the outdoor patio was very good. The only drawback is that they only serve beer and wine, no liquor...hence, the 4 stars.
(4)Pork B.
Crust was great. Sauce and cheese, not so good. Why go to the effort of homemade mozzarella if it just doesn't work so well? Staff very mixed on level of friendliness & attentiveness. I know the place just opened...but come on. Put a smile on the face and a smile in your voice. From northeast and love NY/New Haven style pizza. This was kind of a waste of a coal fired oven. Frank Pepe's (New Haven CT etc) infinitely better, no comparison. Don't feel any burning desire to go back. Wife and I split a large pizza, still hungry. Sorry, was hoping to love it.

First time eating there tonight and it was excellent. Service excellent, food outstanding. Ordered large sausage and Jalepeno pie, personal meatball calzone, personal white pizza with ricotta. All the pizza's were super thin and crispy and the closest we have gotten to real NY style pizza in Mt. Pleasant. The calzone isnt puffy like most but almost like a stuffed pizza. I preferred the white pizza over the red sauce pizza but my family liked the other. House wine is a value, pinot grigio, a very dry and tasty one was a good deal at 15.00 a carafe. Will definitely be back. Be warned this restaurant fills up at around 630 so service may change.

This place had some of the worst pizza my husband and I have ever had. It was dry and flavorless. To top it off, we had to wait for a long time before getting seated or ordering because they have to heat the ovens up in intervals. Then we waited again for a long while to receive the food. It was also insanely expensive, about $50 for two of their small one topping pizzas. Totally not worth it.

I just want to update my review, I have eaten here twice in the last two months, pizza is definitely much better, excellent sauce and pepperoni, I would definitely recommend, atmosphere is excellent. I ate at Grimaldi's last nite, they have just been open for 2 days. I was a little disappointed in the pizza after the long wait. The pizza was suppose to be great. The crust is very thin, almost like unleavened bread, it is baked in a coal fired oven so there is some char. It was the toppings that really disappointed. I ordered a simple pepperoni. They topped the pizza with some type of fresh mozz, no regular mozz, so the cheese is somewhat lacking in flavor. They then topped it with pepperoni, if I had to guess, it was Hormel Rosa Grande pepperoni, very tasty and tended to cup, and gives off some grease, which is a good thing. Then it is somewhat randomly topped with a chunky tomato sauce. I will probably give them another chance, but this is corporate company now so unless they receive quite a few complaints I do not see them changing the cheese which has very little taste. For the record my wife likes the smokiness of the crust and the pepperoni, but agrees the cheese lacks any flavor. You are not going to have any strings of mozzarella hanging from your slices here. I give it 3 stars! It could be 5 stars with a change in the cheese and a more evenly topped pie.

Pizza was GREAT.. Good flavor well cooked. Wait staff were friendly, even had a "service manager" come by and say they were re-cooking my pizza because it "was not up to standards". (OK, this could be a gimick to make me apprecaite it all the more). Was a little pricey $16 for a large plain pie, and $2 for each additional item.. We added meat balls, sausage, peperoni, black olives and garlic... Can't wait to have it for lunch. Saw a "large" salad being delivered and it looked like it could feed a family of four easily.

We came in with low expectations, since it's a chain, and we've had some of the best pizza in the world (try Naples and Milan). Our absolute favorite pizza place in Charleston is hands down Monza. But if you don't feel like driving downtown and looking for parking, I have to say that the pizza was very good, and we were pleasantly surprised. Unlike the other reviewer, I prefer fresh mozz, and the sauce was very good. We also got a caesar salad, served family style, so one order is plenty for two people or even three. So maybe it's not the best pizza we've ever had, but it certainly qualifies as the best pizza in Mount Pleasant.
(4)Tom G.
Nice place, good pizza and friendly helpful staff. Stopped in for a late lunch on a Friday. We shared a large bruschetta pizza and enjoyed it. Large pizza, 2 cokes and a nice tip for $34. We'll be back when in the area.

I love the pizza and atmosphere. My family has enjoyed it twice a month since the grand opening. Unfortunately, as the household CEO, i have decided to change our venue. My husband could not make it this evening due to business travel. Therefore, we decided to make it a girls night out. Mom and daughter. Husband/Daddy forgot to leave us the 'special dinner' credit card. Oops. I had a card that i gave to our waiter and explained to him, I'm not sure if this is the one but I do have cash if it does not go through. His attitude changed. It did not work so i gave him the cash. This is the point that he inslted me and my daughter. He stood there. Would not leave my space. Hovering...waiting on his tip. I was incredulous. Really? I appear that sketchy with no make up on after a 10 mile run and I can only pull it off with a man in tow? I was texting my Husband and he was laughing and said a prayer for you. It was a last minute meal decision to congratulate my daughters A on a Eng Lit test. She was embarrassed. I had bills for the tip but decided to unload the abyss...my purse of coins. He still stood there like a child with palms up while I counted out his tip in coins.

I love this place. I have been here twice and both times have been a great experience. The wait staff is polite and prompt, and I love that I can see the pizza being made. The menu is simple, in the sense that the focus is definitely on pizza, so if you are looking for a place with a variety of Italian food, you should look elsewhere. However, focusing on the pizza has worked out really well for this restaurant as this is now one of my favorite pizza places in the Charleston/Mount Pleasant area. The pizza tastes so fresh and the seasoning helps it to stand out from other pizza places. I also ordered the cheapest chardonnay they had ($6) and I loved it... I actually wanted to come back to this restaurant partly because of the wine. I will be coming back here on a regular basis.
(5)B.J. K.
waitress was rude. said they had wifi , she said they don't have it, it's only for the business office. waited FOREVER for the pizza. it was ok, but as they claim it is the same water used to make it taste like NY pie.. uhh.. NO! it's SC pizza.
(1)Paul F.
Pizza is good but the service is slack. Called in a take-out order 2 hours in advance and then when we showed up on time they made us wait an additional 20 minutes. When I mentioned it to the manager that they have a bad reputation around town he shook his head as if I wasn't telling him something he didn't already know.
(2)Heather G.
Pizza was only OK, the kitchen was incompetent. We waited for over an hour after our orders were placed before the pizzas came out. Although the waiters tried to help the situation by bringing us refills on our drinks, the management was ineffective and we annoyingly cheerful while we waited for what seemed like forever with two hungry seven year olds. I would never go back to this restaurant location again, and in fact, I would never go to any of their locations.
(1)Lungfish L.
they just opened so im not going to comment on service.....ill give them another 30 days before i comment service..... the pizza is good - its thin crust & crispy. the place is nice and clean - they have a cool bar area that looks like it would be great place for a happy hour...overall its very nice and what you would expect from the grimaldis pizza chain. if your into NY style pizza - this might be your place...
(3)Sasha S.

(5)Mike S.
The pizza was excellent as well as the service. Was a great lunch. Will definitely come back.
(5)Jim R.
Love this place. Food is excellent. Eat here when I come for work. Now just learned there is one in Denver. Yahoo!!

(5)Theresa D.
(1)Amy Lauren S.
I'm done.
(3)Jon M.

Tasty pizza, nice restaurant, friendly staff. If you have kids ask them to do the dough show! Perfect location. They also have a private room for special events.
(4)Mark R.

I would never go back to this restaurant location again, and in fact, I would never go to any of their locations.

they just opened so im not going to comment on service.....ill give them another 30 days before i comment service..... the pizza is good - its thin crust & crispy. the place is nice and clean - they have a cool bar area that looks like it would be great place for a happy hour...overall its very nice and what you would expect from the grimaldis pizza chain. if your into NY style pizza - this might be your place...

The only drawback is that they only serve beer and wine, no liquor...hence, the 4 stars.

waitress was rude. said they had wifi , she said they don't have it, it's only for the business office. waited FOREVER for the pizza. it was ok, but as they claim it is the same water used to make it taste like NY pie.. uhh.. NO! it's SC pizza.

Loved the crust and atmosphere. We didn't have to wait long either. Wish there was one back home .

Pizza is good but the service is slack. Called in a take-out order 2 hours in advance and then when we showed up on time they made us wait an additional 20 minutes. When I mentioned it to the manager that they have a bad reputation around town he shook his head as if I wasn't telling him something he didn't already know.

I have been multiple times and have not been let down pure amazingness. Salads are great and pizza is great white and red have not tried pesto yet

Best pizza I've ever had! And the service is top notch. Also love their salad. Good atmosphere!
